What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist position at Serenity Laboratories?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily duties of a Specimen Collector include the collections of toxicology, hematology, and/or genetic specimens at designated client site for the purpose of conducting testing.
The Specimen Collector must:
- Ensure the integrity of the process, package the specimens for shipment, and maintain metrics for reporting purposes
- Be able to facilitate communication between the client, Specimen Collector Coordinators, and Serenity Laboratory Management
- Complete electronic requisition forms with correction patient information/obtaining insurance information which entails data entry duties
- Follow the standard operating procedures for sample collection
- Complete and maintain Compliance Training
- Comply with all applicable safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment
- Obtain patient insurance information as needed
- Maintain an excellent working knowledge of urine, blood, and/or saliva collection procedures
- Track Urine drug screens and random screens on a daily basis using provided software if applicable
- Represent Serenity Laboratory in a professional, confidential, positive manner
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED is required
- Customer Service Experience preferred
- Great Interpersonal Communication skills
- Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification is required
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Lab, Clinic and/or Clerical setting which routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines etc
- Can be exposed to diseases and infections of patients and required to wear surgical gloves and other protective gear.
- Can be required to come into physical contact with patients in order to complete the job
- Largely sedentary role, requiring to sit in front of computer
- Require ability to lift 20 pounds, lift files, pack and ship equipment and supplies

Experience:
- Phlebotomy: 3 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (Preferred)
- Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)

- Day Shift (Preferred)
