What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at Serenity Recuperative Care?
SUMMARY:
The Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of patients in a manner and condition that meets client’s requirements. In addition, this position will organize and implement recreational activities for patients at Facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Pick up, transport, and deliver patients and supplies to various locations in accordance with established schedules
2. Operate vehicle safely; follow all traffic laws and agency regulations to the letter, including not texting or talking on the phone when the vehicle is in motion
3. As needed, assist patients with entry or exit of vehicle and/or assist in lifting patients who are non-ambulant, semi-ambulant, or have severe physical handicaps
4. Load and unload supplies as assigned
5. Properly secure loads for safe transport and to prevent damage
6. Verify count and condition of materials loaded and unloaded; report damage, shortages or overages to supervisor
7. Complete all pre and post trip inspections; report any need for repair or maintenance
8. Maintain an acceptable driving record per agency guidelines
9. Work with volunteers and other staff and enlist their support to gain optimistic response from patients
10. Provide feedback to the treatment team about each patient’s participation, progress, or regression
11. Maintain equipment, supplies, and associated records; assist In preparing order requests for supplies; distribute equipment and supplies as needed
12. Ensure the safety, welfare, and custody of patients at all times according to funder and client’s standards
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current, valid California Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
2. Minimum two years’ driving experience (excluding personal or professional)
3. Energetic and enthusiastic to creatively engage resident participation
4. Willing to work a flexible schedule on a daily basis and available to work occasional weekends and holidays
5. Able to physically lift, move, and position patients as needed
6. Knowledge of typical interests and skills of normal individuals to conduct recreation activities
7. Able to evaluate each patient’s recreational capabilities and modify the program of activities accordingly
8. Able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position
9. One year of experience leading activities in a recuperative care setting preferred
10. Bilingual in Spanish preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. Regularly required to drive to different local sites throughout the day
2. Will necessitate working in busy and loud environments
3. Will be required to stand for long periods of time
4. Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor
5. Will need occasionally to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less
6. May need to bend, stoop, twist, walk, climb throughout the day

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
