Controller
BMW Schererville and South Shore Jaguar Land Rover (“Dealerships”) are currently seeking experienced Controller candidates. The Dealerships consist of two locations 10 minutes apart and featuring three of the premier luxury automotive brands in the world. The Dealerships are part of Serra Automotive, Inc. based in Fenton, MI.
Previous experience working in the retail automotive industry is advantageous but not required The Controller is responsible for the accounting offices at both Dealerships which are operated as separate businesses. The Controller works closely with the Dealer/Partner to manage and operate the Dealerships on a day-to-day basis. The position reports directly to the Dealer/Partner and indirectly to the CFO of Serra Automotive.
This position is currently filled by a longtime professional who has announced plans to retire in the next few years. The goal is to hire the successor to the current controller today which will allow for a smooth transition when retirement eventually occurs.
Located in Northwest Indiana the dealerships are located just 35 miles from the Chicago Loop. The BMW store is in Schererville. The Jaguar Land Rover dealership is in nearby Crown Point on Highway 30. Both Dealerships boast brand new modern buildings featuring the current facility image requirements of both OEMs

Responsibilities:
- Supervise, direct, and train office staff
- Support Dealer/Partner in all aspects of running the business
- Full GL responsibilities. Review Account Reconciliations (bank, floor plan, accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc.)
- Cash Flow Management
- Review Physical Inventories (vehicles, parts)
- Review Taxes (payroll, state, federal, unemployment)
- Financial Statement preparation and analysis at month end and year end
- Daily operational reporting and analysis for all departments
- Review and administer Payroll and related tax reports
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
- Proficient personal computer skills (Excel, Word, DMS DealerTrack is in use, will train qualified candidates)
- Pre-Employment Drug Screening & Background Check Required
- Public Accounting experience and CPA designation a plus – but not required
