SUMMARY

The Engineering Manager is responsible for providing the leadership and mentorship necessary for the Engineering Team to contribute and support the expected growth and success of the overall organization. The EM is accountable for managing all engineering activities to meet internal customer's expectations, general market, and customer specific product development requirements. This includes a fact-based approach to documenting current processes while implementing new/updated data-driven process improvement. The EM works in collaboration with the Director of Engineering and Technology and Project Managers, to identify, develop and execute plans that support the company strategies while fully leveraging engineering opportunities across the entire development process, from design to manufacturing and through to customer delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide the vision, leadership, and management, necessary to ensure proper engineering principles and applications are followed
  • Provides direction for improvement and ensures all engineering protocols, and processes are followed
  • Develop, establish, and implement long-range and short-term objectives, strategies, measures and operating policies to achieve established departmental and company goals and objectives
  • Mentor engineering team by providing technical input to help identify and solve risks that may affect overall project plans and schedules
  • Review product designs and make recommendations to improve, reduce cost, or increase design and production efficiency
  • Stay current on new developments in the field of engineering or product design
  • Provide manufacturing and outside suppliers with technical support and documentation necessary to produce and test products
  • Maintain working knowledge of all applicable design, calculation, and testing tools used in the development of products
  • Establish a culture of mentoring team members to build and continually strengthen core competencies
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities as requested or required

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field
  • 3-5 years of proven leadership experience
  • 5-10 years of product design experience in manufacturing environment
  • Strong engineering technical skills
    • Mechanical or Electrical preferred
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Strong knowledge of engineering methodologies and design for manufacturability
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Manufacturing experience where an ERP system was utilized
  • Strong Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Manufacturing experience including assembly and sheet metal fabrication
  • Strong knowledge of engineering and quality methodologies (DFEMA, APQP, PPAP)
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or similar design software
  • Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite
  • Professional attitude when approaching work assignments
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and complex tasks
  • Strong math, analytical, reasoning, and critical thinking skills
  • Willingness to grow into greater leadership opportunities
