Job Description

Lightstep enables teams to detect and resolve regressions quickly, regardless of system scale or complexity. We integrate seamlessly into daily workflows, whether you are proactively optimizing performance or investigating a root cause so you can quickly get back to building features. We continue to grow our talented, low-ego, team! We believe that we should always align our actions toward a common purpose, that trust is paramount and must be cultivated, that the most valuable team members multiply rather than add, and that we shouldn’t take ourselves too seriously (except when we’re writing way-too-long sentences about our values). We believe that assembling and retaining an inclusive and diverse team is the best way to grow a successful company.

Lightstep is looking for a Senior Product Manager to focus on Observability Data Acquisition. We are seeking people with deep industry expertise who would love to join a growing team of Product Managers and collaborate on complex problems.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Product Manager, you will play an integral role as Lightstep grows. Your primary area of focus will be Observability Data Acquisition, where you will work closely with Engineering and Platform leads to expand and improve how Lightstep ingests observability data from cloud-native ecosystems. Through a deep understanding of how customers deploy their cloud infrastructure and applications, you will define unique solutions that improve our platform’s capability to acquire quality observability data at scale, for example by expanding our instrumentation libraries or portfolio of integrations. You will also work closely with our go-to-market teams during every phase of the customer’s lifecycle to maximize the impact your product delivers.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

  • 5 years of industry expertise working on or deploying cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes or Microservices (for example as a SRE / Engineer, Sales or Partner Engineer, Kubernetes Admin, etc.)
  • Experience working with Data integrations, SDKs, APIs, in the context of Public Cloud  (AWS, GCP, Azure) and other cloud-native technologies
  • The drive and curiosity to deeply understand the needs of your customers, stakeholders and prospects, and translate relevant needs into well-defined problems
  • The ability to define and track success metrics and use them to understand how your product is performing
  • Analytical skills to make data-driven decisions
  • Experience closely collaborating with Engineering, Product Management, Support and/or Customer Success teams
  • A bias towards action

Bonus points:

  • You are familiar with Observability data (metrics, traces)
  • You have worked on Open Source projects
  • You have prior experience in building and maintaining a roadmap and following a product (internal or external) through launch and adoption
