Job Overview:
We are seeking a Culinary Instructor to join our team! Do you possess a passion for food/cooking techniques and strong leadership and teaching qualities? Then this job is for you! You will instruct a group of individuals with disabilities in an encouraging manner to learn all aspects of cooking, from planning a menu, following recipes, safe practices, measuring, shopping, preparing the meal and cleaning up.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching food preparation, shopping, nutrition, food safety and cooking methods from a curriculum.
- Developing of menu items, and purchasing ingredients.
- Work with skills trainers to build menu items, based on suggestions from the members
- Checking the freshness and quality of ingredients, maintaining standard
- Standardizing recipes and plate presentations with members
- Working with the skills trainer to create a memorable and educational experience for the members
- Manage petty cash for program with assistance from Manager.
- Assisting with catering/ events as planned
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in culinary arts, cooking, or other related fields
- A passion for food and cooking techniques
- Strong leadership and teaching qualities
- Ability to manage food budget
- The ability to work with individuals with a disability in an encouraging and kind manner
The hours for this position are generally Monday thru Friday 10 am to 2 pm; however, they may vary depending upon shopping schedules, event catering, etc.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
