EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
- Experience as a forklift operator
SHIFT AVAILABILITY:
- 2nd Shift
- 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm (can be asked to come in early or stay late)
SHIPPING FORKLIFT OPERATOR JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the forklift.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operation and care of forklift in a safe manner. Must be qualified to properly operate the forklift.
- Complete and document a forklift inspection form before start of shift and when operating a new forklift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
- Moving various sized units and or products from various sources to the next staging area.
- Maintain neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in storage areas.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records as to the location of each unit moved.
- Assist other forklift operators as necessary and is backup to Shipping Lead
- Responsible for performing basic equipment maintenance and general housekeeping duties
- Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data.
- Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
- Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.
- Assist general operations when needed.
- Additional duties may be assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be Pratt forklift certified and very safety conscious.
- Previous Pratt and or two years’ forklift operation preferred.
- Experience with “scanner” or “barcode” warehouse management inventory systems preferred.
- Must have the ability to maintain and or identify equipment maintenance needs.
- Multi-task, interpersonal communication, problem solving, tape measure, and time management skills are needed.
- Must be able to function in extreme temperatures and must be available for weekend work schedules.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:
· Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
· Maintain neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in storage areas.
· Product layouts and production specifications
· Product quality specifications
· Quality standards
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
