SUMMARY
Managing and supporting the shipping office, forklift drivers, truck drivers, and warehouse personnel. Shipping product to customers and outside warehouse locations as needed. Inventory management (if required) and expediting schedules and shipments.

Review/Investigate Customer Complaints (Shipping)
Shipping Representative in Daily Production Meeting
Contact person for department inquires
Shift Manning
Staff scheduling
Over-Time approval
Vacation approval
HR – communication/problem solving/new hire
Daily Dept Meeting – 1st Shift – 2nd Shift - 3rd Shift (issues, shipments, notes)
Load Planning – Combining Orders
Monitor daily Inbound/Outbound Distribution
Dispatch Drivers (may be handled by Pratt Logistics)
Manage Monthly Physical Inventory (plant and outside warehouse locations)
Manage Cycle Counts (daily/weekly/monthly)
Weekly Shipping Safety Meeting
Driver Quarterly Safety Meeting (DOT Requirement) (may be handled by Pratt Logistics)
Responsive to Corporate Logistics Policies
Cost/Budgeting for shipping department
Schedule Maintenance PM on fork trucks
Deleting of Load Tags
Manage/Maintain Warehouse Inventory counts
Yard Checks
Drivers Updated DOT Logs/paperwork (may be covered with Pratt Logistics)
Ordering of Pallets
Manage Off-Site Warehouse
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED
Five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:
Experience in the corrugated container industry
Computer literate (MS Excel and MS Word)
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent communication skills.
Able to read and interpret documents such as sales, business and performance reports, operating and maintenance instructions, training and procedure manuals.
Ability to write business reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
Ability to solve a variety of problems and deal with situations where limited information or standardization exists.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure.
Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, costs, proportions, and volumes.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Computer literate (MS Office including Word and Excel), data entry skills
Application knowledge of products and production processes
Quality standards – both ISO and QS

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
The performance of the Shipping Manager will be measured as follows:
Operating standards - the employee will need to meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of safety, load planning, trailer utilization, freight cost, OTD, and inventory tracking. Such standards will be set annually and communicated to the Service Manager.
Personal growth - while the company will provide the tools to assist the Shipping Manager to grow professionally the responsibility for moving forward lies with the individual. Each year there will be goals developed and agreed to by the GM and his/her superior.
Employee relations - through observations the Shipping Manager will be evaluated regarding his/her skills and advancements in the areas of motivational techniques and results, positive and corrective/constructive feedback, subordinate development and creating a positive work environment.
Creativity - this will be evaluated by how active the Shipping Manager is in participating in advancing the business through new and innovative ideas.
