Senior Systems Engineer

Overview/ Job Responsibilities

The Senior Systems Engineer will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in high intensity projects. As a member of our team, you will design, develop, and deliver state-of-the-art communication/payload systems for space-based applications for commercial, civil and/or national security programs. You will work with a highly-motivated team that works with domestic or international customers on their latest satellite systems. You will be a part of a systems engineering team that works with a large cross-functional group including customers, suppliers, hardware and software engineers, integration and test engineers, and senior technologists to ensure that the final products meet the mission objectives. You will perform system analyses and simulations for space communications/payload systems, optimize the system design by performing trade studies, flow down and verify subsystem and unit requirements, develop ConOps, support integration and testing, and/or validate interfaces. Project assignments typically span the complete program life cycle, from internal trades, concept studies and system definition, to satellite development, launch, and on-orbit operations and test.

Position Responsibilities:

• Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
• Leads others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
• Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Leads analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
• Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes

• This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

• This position is expected to be 100% onsite. But work can be performed at any of these locations:

  • −Seal Beach, CA
  • −El Segundo, CA
  • −Aurora, CO
  • −Cape Canaveral, FL
  • −Virginia Areas
  • −Mesa, AZ

Minimum Qualifications

Active Top Secret US Security clearance

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD 9 years' related work experience, Master 12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

• 10 years or more of experience with Systems Engineering.
• Must be US citizen for Government contract compliance
