Virtualization Specialist

Overview

The VMware Engineer will support our USCIS customer in Burlington, VT and be an active part of the team through all phases of security design, implementation, proactive monitoring, troubleshooting and analysis of firewalls, IDSs, VPNs, security controls and policies.

Responsibilities

• Assists with designs, analyses, tests and implementation of state-of-the-art secure network architectures
• Additional responsibilities include cloud storage management, backup, virtualization, monitoring and management tools, business continuity, high availability solutions, providing hardware estimates, supporting hardware and related applications
• Use test plans to validate the configuration of virtual infrastructure
• Implement best practices when developing and deploying VMware solutions
• Provide support for upgrading production virtual environment to the latest VMware patches and major releases
• Daily administration of the load balancer environment
• Monitors network performance, troubleshoots issues and deploys solutions
• Inform management in a clear, concise, and timely manner of any customer or technical issues

Qualifications

• Must be a United States Citizen and clearable for an Entrance on Duty (EOD). The EOD is required to begin employment and must be maintained as a requirement of continued employment
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience with WAN/LAN, Routing, Switching, Optimization and exposure with Cloud Service Providers
• Experience on VMware and ESX 6.0+ deployment, configuration, and maintenance
• Provide operational engineering support to enterprise-level solutions using virtual server hosting, backup solutions, off-site data replication and service level storage solutions
• Experience with VMware vSphere, VMware VCAC, VMware vRealize, and AWS
• Provision Virtual Machines and patches to the software and hardware hosting infrastructure
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or Ansible, preferred
