The Director of Business Intelligence is responsible for building, developing and advancing the company’s approach to data analytics and supporting analytics culture through the standardization of data management, business intelligence technologies, data governance and development life cycle across Sevita. This role requires working closely with key stakeholders, collecting requirements, and producing deliverables in the form of raw datasets, reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions that will be used to drive business decisions.
This position is 100% remote and can be performed from anywhere in the U.S.
- Define, plan, and implement all Business Intelligence/Data initiatives in a timely manner, respecting the commitments made to the business partners.
- Design, develop, implement, and support BI applications of strategic or functional importance including: integration with data sources highly automated data refresh processes best-in-class data visualizations, dashboards, and reports that communicate critical insights to drive decision making
- Provide strategic direction for governance of the organization’s critical data assets to support both business and technical direction
- Provide technical vision and guidance on the development of infrastructure needed to support and maintain data governance for the business critical projects
- Oversee the strategy, policies, and SOPs related to data retention, data security, data access and data sharing that align with regulatory and industry requirements.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining the data warehouses and subject area data marts
- Execute roadmap of business focused BI initiatives with a clear understanding of all deliverables and associated deadlines
- Develop and maintain data management standards, and documentation of current data sources, raw data, data marts, transformations, and report specifications
- Oversee data quality including validation, cleansing/scrubbing, ETL methods, etc.
- Formulate and recommend standards for achieving maximum performance and efficiency of the data ecosystem
- Well versed with handling day to day BI support and operations
- Collaborate with leadership and other key individuals to understand business needs and opportunities of how business intelligence can be used to assist in the day-to-day operations
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify KPIs related to data governance and monitor performance against the KPIs.
- Maintain a high-performance team and work environment enabling operational objectives and acquisition/retention of people resources
- Performs additional duties and activities as required.
- Manages assigned personnel. Completes performance evaluations, orientation, and training. Makes decisions on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions. Resolves employee problems within position responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in computer science or related field required.
- At least 15 years' experience working in analytics, business intelligence, AI, and data warehousing
- Minimum 15 years of experience in data warehouse/BI intelligence architecture, design and development. Significant experience as BI/DW architect on several BI/DW initiatives
- Must have rich experience architecting, designing and building Conceptual Data Models (CDM), Logical Data Models (LDM), Physical Data Models (PDM), Data Warehouses and Data Marts.
- Data security at a macro and micro level (platform, row-level, encryption, etc.)
- Rich Data/Dimensional modeling expertise
- Experience with Master Data Management, Data Governance, and/or Enterprise Information Management
- Expert knowledge of Azure tools and services centered around data and analytics (Data Lake, Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL etc.)
- Excellent understanding of Microsoft Power BI and other Microsoft BI platforms (SSRS, SSAS & SSIS)
- Expert in BI Report & Dashboard development
- Experience designing and building complete ETL processes moving and transforming data from ODS, Staging and Data Warehousing
- Experience with reporting and visualization tools (PowerBI & SSRS)
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Vendor certification (Azure cloud, AWS cloud, etc.) preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Experience working with Cubes & MDX is a huge plus
- Exposure to Big Data technologies (i.e.: Hadoop, ElasticSearch, MongoDB)
- Experience with ETL tools like Kettle is a plus
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, EasyVista or similar application preferred.
- Experience with MySQL, SQL Server and Cache preferred.
- Experience in developing APIs or Web services for data integration
