What are the responsibilities and job description for the Formulation Scientist, I position at SFI Health?
Essential job functions:
- In-depth knowledge of solid dose product development and manufacturing scale-up processes.
- Proficient in the operation of dry granulation techniques, tablet presses, encapsulation machines, tumble blenders, and V-blenders.
- Develop and produce laboratory samples of custom dietary supplement blends.
- Translate customer and internal specifications into prototypes, including capsule, powders or tablets with specific properties.
- Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and other departments to scale up and transfer developed formulations to production.
- Provide technical support to operations and customers regarding dietary supplement formulations.
- Ensure accurate documentation of the product development process and results, maintaining product logs according to R&D guidelines.
- Adhere to company procedural guidelines, laboratory protocols, and safety programs.
- Capability to formulate nutraceutical and powdered functional food prototypes that meet specific nutritional targets while also ensuring consumer sensory acceptance.
Secondary job duties:
- Identify production improvements and implement improvement strategies real-time.
- Support new product development for SFI Health Portfolio as assigned in collaboration with the Product Development Team.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred (i.e. chemistry, chemical engineering, food science, or similar)) in a relevant scientific discipline with industry experience in relevant product modalities.
