Work Location:
The Accountant will be based in our Elkridge, Maryland offices near the MARC train station, BWI airport, and close to both Washington and Baltimore. The Accountant will ultimately work a hybrid schedule of remote and in-office.
Who we are looking for:
SGC Power is seeking an Accountant to execute a wide variety of accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Vendor Management, Payroll and Expenses, Budgeting, and Project Reporting.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will have a background in General Accounting, an interest in further developing their accounting skills and experience, and have strong organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable and Vendor Management
- Manage and perform all aspects of the accounts payable function including but not limited to:
- Processing and approval of vendor transactions and performing accounting functions such as account maintenance, journal entries, and vendor account reconciliations.
- Reviewing, validating, and entering of invoices into the accounting suite and corresponding tools.
- Creating cashflow reporting and working with the appropriate team as needed.
- Ensuring internal controls are consistently maintained.
- Consistently managing vendor information to ensure accuracy.
Payroll and Expenses
- Manage and perform all aspects of the payroll and expense functions including but not limited to:
- Reviewing and processing of payroll according to company policies and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations.
- Reviewing, validating, and processing of employee and company credit card expenses.
Budget and Project Reporting
- Review, reconcile, and report on department and project budgets, consistently managing purchases against budget.
- Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience in a wide range of accounting skills and functions.
- Interest and ability to learn new skills and accept additional accounting responsibilities.
- Ability to research accounting tool processes and accounting standards as needed.
- Ability to coordinate, manage, and prioritize multiple projects and tasks for timely completion.
- Strong organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Highly motivated self-starter with a proven ability to work with others in a friendly and cooperative manner.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience to include strong knowledge of accounts payable processing and general accounting experience is required.
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central or similar accounting software and task management tools.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must be permitted to work in the US without sponsorship.
