SGM, a global manufacturer of pool, spa & deck finishes is currently seeking an experienced, highly motivated & organized Purchasing Agent to purchase goods & services necessary to run our manufacturing business.

You should know how to evaluate market conditions and different suppliers. Communication skills will help you negotiate effectively and maintain profitable relationships. The goal is to acquire supplies that are critical for the success of our business operations.
Responsibilities
- Work to establish positive relationships with suppliers to purchase goods and services for the company, including raw materials, purchased product, sales and marketing literature/supplies and miscellaneous supplies
- Establish and manage procurement lead times and quantity levels for raw materials forecasting
- Issue purchase orders by verifying material specifications and pricing.
- Resolve shipment and pricing errors with suppliers on a timely basis
- Receive miscellaneous purchases in system, and submit documentation to AP department
- Maintain filing system for all documentation related to this position
- Evaluate suppliers by considering price, quality, availability and other criteria specific to the company
- Proactively research and locate additional suppliers to cover possible shortages from current suppliers and to get the best price and quality
- Negotiate, or renegotiate regularly, contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best pricing and delivery on behalf of the company
- Verify purchases and recommend alternatives for expensive or irrelevant products
- Interact with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors
- Analyze raw material requirements regularly in order to maximize quantity purchase discounts and minimize obsolete inventory issues.
- Develop lead times for standard raw materials and supplies required for production
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience as a purchasing agent or relevant role (Minimum 5 years in purchasing and vendor negotiations)
- Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
- Knowledge of market research, data analysis and purchasing best practices
- A strong analytical mindset
- Negotiation skills
- Experience with ERP systems
- Competent in basic Excel
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- BS/BA in business administration or relevant field; MS/MA will be considered a plus
