What are the responsibilities and job description for the WOCN position at SGMC?
- Establishes/maintains policies, standards of care/practice related to wound, ostomy and continence patient care needs.
- Provides instruction to staff related to policies, standards and practices.
- Provides direct patient care and assistance to staff nurses related to wound, ostomy and continence patient care needs.
- Provides consultative service to affiliated healthcare agencies.
- Provides back up coverage for other Specialty Nursing Functions as requested by Department Director.
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Current RN license in State of Georgia.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field preferred.
- Certification as WOCN highly desirable.
- One year acute care nursing experience required.
- Previous experience in wound care highly desirable.
- Current CPR (C) certification.
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop others individually and as a team.
- Ability to adapt to new situations, set priorities and utilize problem-solving techniques.
- Excellent verbal, written and behavioral communication skills.
- Ability to direct the development and implementation of policies, procedures, etc.
- Demonstrate current knowledge of patient care.
- Strong ability to read, interpret and analyze regulations, standards and clinical issues.
- Utilize variety of office, educational, clinical and non-clinical equipment.
