Job Description
This role is responsible for conducting laboratory analysis and field sampling on the FLNG Shell Prelude facility. This includes maintenance of equipment, sampling and analysis as required production purposes and development and continual improvement of sampling and analysis procedures.
This role is FIFO out of Perth, WA. The roster is 3 weeks on, 4 weeks off, 3 weeks on, 5 weeks off.
Other responsibilities include;
- Provide chemical analysis of routine and non-routine samples as directed by the Company on an as required basis
- Provide Expertise for the ongoing verification of new Gas Chromatography Techniques for hydrocarbon analysis for the LNG production and delivery processes
- Conduct and control off-site chemical analysis for environmental, in-process hydrocarbon and LNG product testing
- Use sample containers, collection, freight and analysis in a cost effective, timely, accurate and safe manner for off-site analysis
- Minimise the need for oversight and duplication of Contractor’s activities by the Company
- Exercise effective and timely sampling in plant according to scheduled sampling and emergency or ad hoc sampling
- Maintain training competencies and administrative requirements for SGS Laboratory team and reserve 10 days per year for training in Perth off swing
- Strong computer literacy skills, particularly laboratory database systems and MS Office programs
- Perform sampling and analysis under the direction of the Shell laboratory Lead however named
Qualifications
- Qualification in chemistry or related discipline
- Minimum of 8 years experience in an oil and gas industry laboratory with particular experience in sampling and analytical testing of liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons or similar instrumental experience
- Experience in the operation, optimisation and basic maintenance of analytical instruments, particularly gas chromatography, ion chromatography, UV/Vis photometry, and spectroscopy instruments
- Experience and hazard awareness associated with operating live gas plant sampling stations and offtake valving protocols. Familiarity with the application of different sampling configurations
- Understanding NATA/ISO 17025 accreditation and the requirements for a chemical testing laboratory and experienced in the use of a LIMS
- Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised with the skills to plan and monitor laboratory work and laboratory maintenance programmes, laboratory validation, and laboratory quality control
- Demonstrated skill to apply systematic knowledge transfer and ability to write comprehensive analytical procedures
- Greater than 6 months experience on offshore operation with compositional GC.
