JOB TITLE: FOOD SERVICE SPECIALIST - 20 Hours per week - $17.00-20:00 p/h
Monday through Thursday -CLOSED Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Position Summary:
Shalom Ministries is seeking a person to work in our Dining with Dignity program. This is a position that encompasses all aspects of food service including meal planning, food prep and cooking, as well as dishwashing and custodial duties. Hot and nutritious meals are prepared and served four (4) days per week Monday through Thursday.
Our Story
The Dining With dignity program was established in 1994 to address food insecurity in the downtown Spokane neighborhood. Over 50,000 free meals will be prepared and served each year.
Essential Duties:
· Assist in the planning and preparation of breakfast menu.
· Provide good sanitation procedures of facility and equipment.
· Maintain safe handling of food in compliance with health and safety standards.
· Maintain personal hygiene and appropriate dress.
· Safe operation of dish sanitizer and equipment.
· Use of respectful interpersonal and communication skills.
· Assist in the management of inventory standards.
· Help on the meal serving line when needed.
· Create a welcoming environment for all volunteers and program participants.
Preferred Skills
· One to two years of experience in restaurant and/or food service.
· Experience in de-escalation skills when dealing with people from trauma-informed viewpoint.
· Creativity in impromptu problem solving.
· Able to work independently and apply collaboration &teamwork skills.
· Passionate about access to nutritious food as a key to social justice strategy.
Qualifications
· Comfortable lifting up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
· Comfortable reaching, bending, standing, and/or kneeling repeatedly.
· Willing to learn and comply with food safety and sanitation rules.
· Satisfactory background check.
· Main a current Food Worker Card.
· Provide current Washington state Identification
