Job Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple clients, contracts, and projects at the same time.
- Perform geotechnical engineering analyses, studies, and calculations.
- Prepare and write engineering and other reports.
- Perform field explorations, collection of samples, geologic reconnaissance, and mapping.
- Perform construction observation on job sites and prepare summary logs and other documentation.
- Interact and communicate with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
- Lead, mentor, oversee, and/or supervise engineers and other employees.
- Review technical reports prepared by lower-level engineers.
- Review engineering calculations prepared by lower-level engineers.
- Support business development and marketing activities, including preparation of cost proposals and presentations to existing and prospective clients.
- Follow Shannon & Wilsons Quality Assurance policy.
- Follow and promote Shannon and Wilsons Health and Safety and Loss Prevention policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- MS Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, supported by a BS degree in Geology or Civil Engineering.
- PE licensure required
- 17 years of experience performing geotechnical field explorations and studies.
- Mentoring and supervisory experience.
- Geologic interpretation and analysis using soil and rock samples retrieved from explorations.
- Subsurface exploration techniques including hollow-stem auger drilling, mud rotary drilling, rock coring, and test pit/trench logging.
- Design and analyses of retaining structures, shallow foundations, deep foundations, and pavements.
- Experience preparing and reviewing geotechnical reports for infrastructure projects.
- Organizing, contracting with, and directing subcontractors a plus.
- Experience managing projects and interacting with clients.
- Basic computer skills: MS Office required; AutoCAD and numerical modeling software desirable.

A Senior-Level Geotechnical Engineer will be hired in at Shannon & Wilson as a Associate or Senior Associate level.
- Associate range: $108,000.00 - $132,000.00
- Senior Associate range: $126,000.00 - $154,000.00
The pay range for this position depends on skills, education, and experience. In additional to base pay, all employees are also eligible for an annual year-end discretionary bonus.
