Position Description:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing the monthly standard Journal Entries, participating in the month end closing process, preparing bank and account reconciliations, managing fixed assets, royalties, and the sales tax filings. This role assists the Accounting Manager in preparing daily and monthly financial reports and analyses.
Scope of Responsibilities:
The individual in this role will:
- Participate in monthly financial close process and provide support for audits and tax preparation
- Reconcile assigned accounts and prepare standard and recurring journal entries.
- Research, analyze, and prepare commentary for the assigned accounts to assist in the preparation of the monthly internal financial package.
- Prepare/file/analyze and process submissions and payments for monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns
- Manage fixed assets
- Manage Royalty calculation and reporting
- Manage and reconcile daily cash and monthly statements
- Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and related budget reporting analysis
- Provide ad hoc analysis as needed
Requirements/Preferences:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA preferred
- 2-5 years of experience in accounting
- Knowledge and understanding of GAAP
- Ability to prioritize tasks and projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong ERP background, D365 preferred
- Intermediate/advanced Excel skills
- Sales tax preparation experience preferred
