Job Description
This is an entry level role within the Decision Science team, an analytical function within Group Risk that manages the full credit lifecycle of models.
The jobholder will be responsible for:
- Analysing, reporting and maintaining our current suite of models
- Developing new models in the impairment and capital space and supporting the BAU reporting of our financial numbers.
- Supporting Model Risk Management and Governance.
This role will support the wider regulatory commitments required of the team and ensure we can continue to grow and produce strong analytical outputs to support the bank.
In this role you will be exposed to several modelling and regulatory challenges and be able to make a difference from day 1. You will be coached and supported to develop into a strong quantitative analyst with an excellent foundation in risk.
- The role is balanced to include on the job learning and development objectives which have been carefully selected to prepare candidates for further progression and specialisation within group risk. Candidates will be embedded into the team and be exposed to a range of stakeholders and projects to support their development.
Strategic
- Support the delivery of modelling projects through insightful analysis and clear documentation.
- Develop working independence and organizational skills.
- Gain exposure to the business and the role we play in the bank
- Present analysis within the team and at division level of part of working groups
- Learn the fundamentals of Credit Rating, Capital, Impairment and Risk Management
Operational
- Develop Hands-on model building and coding skills to create industry leading models
- Ensure all work is clearly documented and conforms to development standards
- Explore analytical solutions to resolve business challenges
- Gain experience with Model Risk Management and its place in the bank
Relationships
- Work closely with the Decision Science team and group functions and divisions to establish constructive and effective relations
- Collaboration with analytic colleagues and uphold best practice
Knowledge Gathering
- Develop an understanding of financial services and risk management
- Develop a basic knowledge of credit scoring, modelling techniques and IFRS9
- Understand how data and statistical techniques are used to develop regulatory models.
Qualifications
- Degree in an analytical discipline such as Applied Mathematics / Statistics, Econometrics, Operational Research, Engineering, Finance, Computer Science, Business Management etc. or equivalent experience
- Be articulate, both verbally and in the way that information is conveyed in reports and presentations, with ability to communicate complex information in a simple and effective way.
- Ability to work with others to achieve business objectives.
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-up skills.
- Solution oriented; positive mindset and can-do attitude.
- Creativity, energy and personal drive to succeed.
- Calm under pressure - concise, direct communication and active knowledge-sharing style.

- Experience of either Power BI, SAS, SQL or other similar data analysis tool
- Solid Microsoft Excel skills
- Basic knowledge of Risk Analysis is desirable
