What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Shelor Motor Mile?
Shelor Motor Mile has an immediate opening in our accounting office for an Assistant Controller.
Essential Duties:
- Assists in preparing complete financial statements monthly according to dealership guidelines and within each manufacturer's format and time frame. Ensures that all manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection and co-op advertising are current and accurate.
- Interprets the financial statement and the daily operating control (DOC) regularly and informs management of developing trends.
- Participates in the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.
- Provides department managers with detailed financial and management reports.
- Reviews the reconciliation of general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable and floor plan payable.
- Ensures that all office personnel are using proper accounting procedures and maintaining accurate records and analyses and supervises the preparation of all information for monthly financial statements.
- Continually strives to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealership.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Qualifications:
· 3-5 years’ preferred experience in multiple areas of the accounting office including accounts receivable, accounts payable, deal posting, inventory and floorplan.
· At least 2 years supervisory experience
· Proficient in Microsoft Office with a strong understanding of Excel
· Utilizes exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and emphasis on quality
· Proven time management and follow-through skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines
· Displays superior written and oral communication skills and employs effective listening skills
· Displays tactful, mature and professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills
· Available to work some later evenings at month-end close
· Possess a high level of dependability, maturity, confidentiality, and courtesy
· Uses problem solving skills and past experience to overcome workplace challenges, develop new processes, and define outcomes
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
