Shelton Academy in Doral, Florida is seeking a full-time ESE Coordinator for the 2022-2023 school year. The candidate must be supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- To create and maintain individual learning plans (ILP) for all exceptional education students.
- To maintain accurate and complete ILP documentation as per ADOM.
- Meet with parents to review ILP and record progress and concerns.
- Organize, prepare and lead Staffing Meetings with faculty, parents, and guidance counselor to better meet the needs of the student.
- Assist students in learning to utilize assistive technology tools to support their learning and growth.
- To increase the awareness and appropriate use of assistive technology within exceptional student education classrooms.
- To represent our school at the appropriate conferences and workshops pertaining to ESE.
- Write, implement, and monitor individual learning plans (ILP) that will guide each student’s instructional program based on student assessments, needs and strengths.
- Evaluate documentation in an appropriate manner based on the student’s disability, ILP, or special learning needs.
- Act as liaison/coordinator of ILP with our faculty.
- To actively build strong relationships with parents, guardians, and families that foster trust, collaboration, and communication.
- Maintain standardized testing accommodation requests.
- Work with School Testing Coordinator in providing timely information and documentation.
Qualifications:
- BS / BA Degree Education with specialization in Exceptional Student Education or related field.
- Florida Department of Education certification in Exceptional Student Education grades K-12 is preferred, temporary or professional.
- Be supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; experience in Roman Catholic environment preferred.
- Excellent presentation skills with skill in use of innovative instructional technologies.
- Excellent oral and written English -language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
- Good spelling and grammar required.
- Professional demeanor.
