Position: Receptionist/Data Entry
Reports to: Clinic Manager/Providers
Job Summary: The Medical Receptionist is a vital part of the clinic; they are the “first impression” of the health system. The receptionist will greet patients by phone or in person with kindness and respect; by scheduling appropriately they will optimize both patient satisfaction and provider time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Treat all patients and associates with respect, dignity, and provide professional service to them in a timely, polite and considerate manner.
- Greet patients, vendors, pharmaceutical representatives, and other visitors to the medical office.
- Answer patient questions and provide assistance and directions when necessary.
- Field all phone calls that arrive using our general office number.
- Reconcile daily cash flow and prepare bank deposit.
- Utilize medical office software to schedule appointments for patients.
- Register new patients and update necessary records.
- Distribute forms and paperwork to patients and then check them over to ensure that required fields are completed appropriately.
- Process patient payments in office.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient records.
- Manage inventory of necessary office supplies and coordinate reordering.
- Ensure that the waiting room environment remains quiet, calm, and welcoming.
- Uphold the positive reputation of our medical office by always treating visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and compassionate manner.
· Process medical records request.
· Verify insurances.
· Ensures all paper reports are scanned into the EMR in a timely manner.
· Collaborate with the provider/manager to ensure accurate document location in the EMR
· Update health histories in EMR
· Process all medical records requests in a timely manner.
Requirements
Education, Experience and Other Requirements:
· Minimum High School Diploma, Associate’s Degree in business preferred or training through an accredited Medical Assistant program.
· Check hospital email at least once per work day since primary source of communication
· Prefer experience in a medical office setting.
· Working knowledge of medical terminology, good communication skills both verbal and written.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT:
Ability to handle complex workload that requires meeting daily deadlines, detail oriented and well organized. Must be able to prioritize workload, make sound decisions and handle inherent stress.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS:
Ensures that own daily behavior reflects and meets the intent and expectation of the Mission Statement. Must be able to problem- solve for patients and visitors, have a positive attitude and be able to work together as an effective team. Must strive to greets patients and families by name, introduces self to new patients, and respects privacy and confidentiality at all times.
ACCIDENT OR HEALTH HAZARD:
Requires exposure to communicable disease and/or bodily fluids, toxic substance, and other conditions common to a clinic environment. The tasks performed on the job produce exposure to injuries obtained in use of equipment, hazardous material or health hazards (communicable diseases) that could result in permanent or long –term illness or injury.
PHYSICAL DEMAND/ WORKING CONDITIONS:
Agreeable office environment, duties may include light to moderate exertion of manual effort in transporting materials, equipment, and /or transporting patients; long period of time spent in the sitting position.
Sheridan Community Hospital upholds the guidelines of CMS Mandate; COVID19 Vaccination Documentation is a requirement of this position. You will be required to submit proof of vaccination or submit Medical or Religious Exemption Application for review. You must receive approved status by the Human Resource & Employee Health departments in order to obtain employment at Sheridan Community Hospital.
Salary : $27,000 - $34,100
