The Infrastructure DevOps Lead Engineer designs, develops, and deploys software and services used to automate and maintain Infrastructure platform (databases, VMs, networking, storage, containers, cloud) deployments within the Sherwin-Williams enterprise.  The Infrastructure DevOps Lead Engineer will be responsible for conducting technical tasks associated with the implementation of infrastructure platforms, and services. The incumbent must be able to create software defined configurations, design life-cycle service models, ensure technology interoperability and flexible integration with other systems. Proficiency in documentation is a must for existing and proposed infrastructure. The ability to provide troubleshooting and support within all levels of organization. The Lead Engineer will apply ITIL practices to support new and existing line-of-business infrastructure deployments. This position will focus on infrastructure service delivery, including the following: design and maintain infrastructure service catalog, defining and maintaining system change management policies and programs, and develop software to leverage third party web service-based APIs. The Lead Engineer will assist other teams to leverage platform automation.  The Infrastructure DevOps Lead Engineer (Network) specializes in network technologies including hands-on experience with networking in one or more public clouds.

Essential Functions

Strategy & Planning

·         Participate and support prioritization of infrastructure requests and activities as directed by the governance process.

·         Contribute to capacity, scalability and maintenance of short and mid-term planning and efforts to support Sherwin-Williams infrastructure operations.

·         Implements and maintains standards and guidelines supporting infrastructure strategy.

Acquisition & Deployment

·         Participate, at the task level in implementation and management of Sherwin-Williams infrastructure operations layer to support service consumption.

·         Work closely with application teams to upgrade/migrate Sherwin-Williams applications and technologies to Infrastructure platforms as directed by management.

·         Work closely with Cybersecurity to plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in infrastructure solutions against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification, or disclosure.

·         Participate in application/server/platform lifecycle management.

·         Define and implement configurations leveraging automation and orchestration to support provision/de-provision of Infrastructure services by application teams in seamless fashion, factoring in all Sherwin-Williams operation requirements, guidelines, and standards.

Operational Management

·         Participate in the design, engineering, configuration, operation, and maintenance of secure and scalable Infrastructure services (databases, VMs, networking, storage, containers, cloud).

·         Automates installation and configuration of infrastructure services based on guidelines and standards.

·         Work in collaboration with application and support teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting infrastructure services (databases, VMs, networking, storage, containers, cloud).

·         Perform automated controlled deployments of digital assets between development, quality assurance and production environments.

·         Ability to plan and complete projects based on high-level requirements with minimal or no guidance.

·         Mentor and coach junior engineers.­

·         Work closely with lead engineers to understand and implement team standard platforms and technologies.

·         Perform activities in support of a 24x7 global support model for critical production environments.

·         Track daily work in project management software.

Incidental Functions

·         Support planning and implementation of disaster recovery plans.

·         Evaluate infrastructure services and products; perform product proof of concept analysis.

·         Assist with various projects as may be requ­­ired to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the work.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

·         Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology field of study (e.g., Information Technology, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Systems Management, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience

  • 8 years of IT experience.
  • 4 years hands-on experience with networking concepts.
  • 2 years hands-on experience with cloud technologies.
  • Experience with Continuous delivery, DevOps, and automation of deploying applications
  • Experience in DevOps strategies, technologies, tools, and practices.
  • Experience working with an Infrastructure-as-Code tool like Terraform, Ansible or Puppet.
  • Comfortable with infrastructure fundamentals such as: servers, storage, virtual machines.
  • Experience with networking fundamentals including: load balancing, firewalls, application proxies, and security brokers.
  • Understand and execute the IT processes of Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, and Configuration Management.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Experience in developing documentation and presenting technical solutions to all levels of management and technical teams.
  • Comfortable working with solution and enterprise architects.
  • Comfortable in scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
  • Experience with software development and collaboration products.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

·         Certification in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, OCI, GCP.

·         Strong working knowledge of webservers, application, and database servers.

·         Knowledge of containerization, i.e. Kubernetes, Docker

·         Understanding of the key underlying enterprise middleware technologies, e.g., Apache, Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, including how they are configured and administered.

·         Good knowledge of LDAP concepts and experience working with a LDAP Directory.

·         Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, Oracle Cloud Control, Dynatrace Azure Application Insights, Zabbix.

·         Experience with Agile project methodology
