The Lead Business Analyst is responsible for the continued enhancement and support of solutions for various business divisions. The incumbent will lead functions/projects and perform an application support role for the DT Product Delivery group. The role requires understanding of business issues and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommending solutions while taking ownership for ensuring support in coordination with the other leads. Additionally, the incumbent will work with both business and technical teams to establish discovery process, track deliverables, define enhancement requests, manage standards, ensure data consistency, assess impact, and coordinate and conduct testing. The Lead Business Analyst proactively seeks opportunities to improve business processes and leverage standard functionality. This role combines technical and business knowledge to ensure the solution is to SW's best advantage. Finally, this position will provide proactive guidance for problem definition with internal and external stakeholders to optimize business success and achievement of corporate goals.

Essential Functions

Strategy & Planning

  • Ensure that applications meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
  • Review and analyze existing applications effectiveness and efficiency, and then develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for support reduction through effective training, root cause analysis and process refinement.
  • Strives to keep knowledge and expertise current with new releases, technology advances and analyzes potential opportunities.
  • Review new business opportunities to gain and refine understanding of their value to establish preliminary estimates of opportunity, effort, and cost of delay.
  • Facilitate initial effort and cost of delay estimation of large, cross-cutting, customer facing initiatives that encapsulate the new development necessary to realize certain business benefits (henceforth referred to as "Business Epics and Features")

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Analyze Business Epics and Features to establish viability, measurable benefit, development and deployment impact, and potential availability of resources.
  • Serve as a member of the Program Management team to elaborate initiatives (business features and epics) and determine impact on internal and external value streams
  • Gather requirements, analyzes, creates design documents, and performs impact analysis for application changes.
  • Collaborate continuously with business stakeholders to ensure requirements are captured, priorities are understood, and constraints communicated
  • Identify solution alternatives with architects, development teams, product management, and key stakeholders
  • Manage Projects and Implementations; plan and organize tasks, reports progress, manages and coordinates with consultants for implementations.
  • Contribute to pre-testing phase of development by evaluating proposals to identify potential problem areas and make the appropriate recommendations.
  • Track project deliverables and meet dedicated timelines.

Operational Management

  • Review and edit requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution within the group.
  • Manage open issues, delegate requests and work with business owners to prioritize and resolve in a timely manner.
  • Perform application support for Digital Product Delivery teams.
  • Review and edit requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution within the group.
  • Train and mentor other Analysts as assigned.
  • Create test plans, test cases, test scripts and performs functional testing.
  • Analyze application defects to determine if they fall within scope of project requirements.
  • Create and maintain system documentation.
  • Work with existing systems to track and manage requests and issues.
  • Provide business reports to management and clients.

Incidental Functions

  • Prepare and lead presentations as requested.
  • Monitor program progress and provide visibility of program status against roadmap to full stakeholder group.
  • Assist with projects as may be required to contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of the work.
  • Attend management meetings on behalf of team.
  • Provide training and documentation for supported applications.
  • Mentor less experience team members as requested.
  • Participate in hiring activities and fulfilling affirmative action obligations and ensuring compliance with the equal employment opportunity policy.
  • Minimum travel as required.
  • Work outside the standard office 7.5-hour workday as required.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology field of study (e.g., Information Technology, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Systems Management, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.
  • Having these certifications is preferred (PMP, PgMP, PfMP, CSM, PSM, Product Owner, SAFe)

Knowledge & Experience

  • 8 years of experience with IT or business analysis, project management, and program management with clear progression of responsibility throughout career.
  • 6 years of hands-on experience managing large scale IT initiatives.
  • 6 years working with internal clients and/or external agencies/partners.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience coupled with business intelligence and ability to understand customer's needs.
  • 3 years' experience in lead support of software applications.
  • Working knowledge of software development and support methodologies.
  • Well-versed in facilitation of process mapping activities and working knowledge of mapping techniques.
  • Demonstrated skill in preparation and maintenance of implementation documents.
  • Experience with Agile principles and practices preferred.
  • Experience effectively reviewing project plans with project managers and making recommendations or providing feedback based on the needs of the program.
