The Lead IT Engineer in an individual role that is responsible for automation, configuration management and providing stable platforms for delivery of quality. The Lead IT Engineer is tasked with the management and development of continuous integration and deployment solutions for various applications/platforms currently being supported by the Enterprise digital platform operations and support team. This position conducts training internally and to the development teams on building processes.  The Engineer plays an operational role by troubleshooting issues in development systems and is also responsible for the architecture and technical leadership of the entire DevOps infrastructure. The Engineer is also responsible for the updating of configuration management tools, code, and modules for the purpose of streamlining implementation and supportability. In this role, the Lead IT Engineer duties will include supervising developers for the building the DevOps pipelines for their respective project, configuring systems, and setting up the overall DevOps process. To ensure success the Lead Engineer should demonstrate extensive experience in DevOps engineering and managing developers.

Essential Functions

Strategy & Planning

•             Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and standards around Azure API management and security.

•             Develops, configures, operates and evolves the API Management platform Azure APIM

•             Application and platform support for Oracle Integration cloud, Boomi, Azure APIM.

•             Support legacy applications of SOA, EDI as needed.

•             Work with test engineering team in setting up the dev ops pipeline for automation testing.

•             Work with application security team to incorporate security into the CI/CD pipeline.

•             Mentors’ members of the IT team and be an education resource for development teams.

•             Collaborates across teams to add new capabilities on our platform to support developers and business.

•             Develops, evolves and maintains security infrastructure for service integration components.

•             Works with application security to ensure the appropriate patterns and standards are being maintained.

•             Conduct research into new technologies, including components, tools, frameworks and vendor products.

•             Establish, document and promote team standards with regards to research, documentation, business processes and application testing and support.

•             Recommend improvements for the global support process and ancillary processes. Provide recommendations to address and resolve business issues.

Acquisition & Deployment

•             Plans and organizes tasks, reports progress and coordinates with consultants for implementations.

•             Develops processes, guidelines, and framework for rapid development and deployment of services.

•             Mitigate significant risks associated with large projects, which require new processes and/or involve significant changes to existing processes.

•             Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.

•             Provide production technical support for current integrations and resolve service requests in collaboration with various Sherwin IT application teams or third-party vendor integrations.

•             Effectively evaluates production and non-production issues and presents options for remediation.

•             Provide training and documentation for supported integrations when requested.

•             Manage enhancements and support activities, plan and organize tasks and report progress.

Operational Management

•             Develop and maintain an understanding of key processes, schedules, cycles, profiles, etc. for the technical systems supported by the platform ops team and in use by the business.

•             Develop solutions to leverage various Enterprise applications functionality for Integration’s area and suggest process improvements.

•             Proactively mentor the Team members in following processes, best practices, troubleshooting and testing tools.

•             Coordinate work efforts with the Integrations development and middleware teams for application change controls and system performance issues.

•             Provide guidelines on operational processes to ensure projects and RTB activities are held to appropriate frameworks.

•             Provide regular, clear, and consistent communication (written and oral) on the status of platforms, issues, and deliverables to representatives from the customer/vendor. 

•             Partner with vendor technical support to facilitate analysis of and resolution to technical issues for customers.

Incidental Functions

•             Provide training and documentation for supported applications.

•             Research or prototype new tools and/or technologies.

•             Provide software expertise as a project resource.

•             Attend management meetings on behalf of team, prepare and lead presentations as requested.

•             Participate in hiring activities and fulfilling affirmative action obligations and ensuring compliance with the equal employment opportunity policy.

•             Up to 25% travel as required (domestic and international).

•             Work outside the standard office 7.5-hour workday as required.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

•             Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology field of study (e.g., Information Technology, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Systems Management, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience

•             8 years IT experience.

•             5 years of experience in DevOps (preferred Azure DevOps)

•             2 years of experience with any Enterprise middleware (IBM, Oracle, etc.) or iPaaS platform.

•             2 years of programming experience.

•             1 years of experience with IaaS & PaaS cloud platforms.

•             Understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, Cloud, and automation.

•             Understanding of automation and deployment tools (Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Git, etc.)

•             Strong hands-on DevOps pipeline development.

•             Hands on experience with Azure APIM.

•             Experience documenting standards, policies, and installation guides.

•             Experience in building middleware integrations using Ipaas platforms is a plus.

•             Knowledge of Microservices Architecture

•             Understanding of Containerization\Orchestration- Docker (Build/Ship/Run)

•             Knowledge of Restful API Design principles

•             Knowledge of SOA principles, design patterns, and application integration architectures is a plus.

•             Experience supervising technical resources in Enterprise Integrations.

•             Experience evaluating and implementing new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

•             Experience in scripting languages: Terraform, Groovy

•             Expertise in DevOps and APIM (API Management)

•             Support development, operational applications and tools including (but not limited to): Github, Jenkins, Jfrog artifactory, elastic search, Kubernetes, Rancher.

•             Experience working with at least one integration platform of Oracle SOA Suite (SOA/OSB/BPM)/ Dell Boomi/ Oracle Integration Cloud or similar technologies.

•             Experience in ERP systems (Oracle or SAP) is a plus.
