Communication Specialist

Overview: Shift * ology Communication is currently hiring for the position of Communication Specialist to support a variety of marketing and communication functions and various accounts in a virtual work environment. The duties of this fast-paced position are diverse and multi-faceted and require professional skills and a strong self-directed work ethic.

You will write and create content, develop promotional materials, organize meetings and presentations, support webinars, implement social media strategies, and interact with clients and their customers to deliver messages. You must possess superb written and verbal communication skills.

We are looking for someone to create and curate on-message content for all media channels:

• Paid media - advertising, boosted social media posts, paid editorials
• Earned media - news releases, influencer blog and social media posts
• Shared media - social media on all platforms: others’ TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
• Owned media - website content, original blogs, e-newsletters, own social media channels

Creating content is done through writing, visual design, simple videography and photography, interviews and research.

The Communication Specialist will assist account managers with supporting their client bases to help them grow.

• Having fun creating new, innovative content and ideas!

• Assisting account managers with client communication and marketing support

• Writing news releases and articles for newsletters and e-newsletters

• Developing e-newsletters through MailChimp or other platforms

• Creating presentation decks (Google slides or PPT)

• Developing content for a variety of media/communication channels, such as shooting, editing and producing simple online videos, photography

• Scheduling projects and tasks

• Developing messages for use across a variety of mediums

• Preparing project work plans and reports

• Creating campaigns

• Updating website content through a content management system (Wordpress)

• Researching public opinion and best practices - conducting literature reviews, taking notes at focus groups, developing focus group questions, preparing research reports

• Managing/monitoring client accounts on various social media platforms

• Coordinating printing and promotions

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements: Bachelors in Communication, PR, Marketing, Journalism or a related field. Experience in agriculture, health, or education is a plus. 1-3 years of experience. Excellent personal communication skills and experience delivering communication in written, verbal and creative forms. Must be able to handle multiple projects with challenging deadlines, and work independently in a team environment.

Travel Requirements: Less than 20% travel for business and professional development purposes.

Work Hours: Full-time, salaried. Employee should set and adhere to his or her own regular schedule and be open to work outside of regular business hours. This is a deadline-oriented job and may require some work on evenings and weekends. Most evening or weekend events are scheduled well in advance, and the need to work outside regular business hours is primarily based on the individual’s ability to plan and meet deadlines during the workweek. Shift * ology Communication is primarily a remote-working team, providing you the tools and technology to connect with your clients and teammates from anywhere. However, office space is provided and in-person attendance is required for various meetings, events and activities as determined by schedules and client needs.

Salary and Benefits: Entry level position, pay commensurate with experience. Salary range $36,000-$41,000 plus bonus potential. Great flexibility is part of our virtual culture. Health insurance and 401(k)/profit sharing available the Jan. 1 or July 1 after 6 months of continuous employment. Mileage reimbursed at the current federal rate.
