What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Manager position at Shift.org?

Your Role

As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for the ideation, research, prioritization and delivery features that help our members make career changes. At our start up, you will prioritize and build for both the military member user and the hiring or recruiter user. You will have an array of responsibilities, from playing the Product Owner role on our development team to leading discovery and requirement scoping of high priority/ROI initiatives.

This role is a key, second addition to our Product team, reporting into the Senior Product Manager.

What You’ll Do

  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Operations, Customer Success and Sales to understand needs as well as find and communicate solutions to meet them.
  • Drive ideas into features through wireframing, discovery, requirement writing and delivery in line with the overall product roadmap. Some feature areas this role might own through these phases:
    • A personalized dashboard for our members that suggests events, courses, and programs based on their Shift membership status. 
    • A dashboard for hiring partners to track their personal and team activity in the platform.
    • Deliver varying ‘Talent Views’ of transitioning and veteran military talent to different customer industries
  • Along with the Sr PM, define, socialize and deliver against a quarterly roadmap
  • Go deep on high priority/ROI initiatives like ATS integration from market research, user discovery and scoping of requirements to delivery.
  • Sprint planning, backlog grooming and prioritization, testing and delivery of features across the platform 
  • Establish hardened Agile processes that cascade through the organization

Who This Job is For

  • A product owner or manager with 1-3 years of product management experience building SaaS products in an agile environment.
  • A clear written and verbal communicator, skilled at gaining buy-in or support from cross functional stakeholders.
  • Someone motivated and inspired to build against Shift’s mission. 
  • An end to end, tech curious thinker interested in understanding the why and looking to solve user needs beyond user/stakeholders stated desires.
  • A decision maker who knows what they need to know to make a call, and is humble and curious about what they don’t.
