UNIX/AIX Engineer
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Primary support for Linux/Unix/AIX systems.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, upgrade, customize, and maintain Linux/Unix/AIX systems while ensuring overall system performance and availability
- Monitor, troubleshoot and fix issues with Linux/Unix/AIX systems
- Test and document systems prior to deployment
- Perform regular revalidation of system, settings to ensure compliance
- Use scripts to automate routine tasks
- Be available to respond to needs of 24x7x365 manufacturing environment
- Document system requirements, configurations, procedures, changes, incidents and problem resolution
- Mitigate any security issues in a timely manner
- Backup and restore systems
- Work with vendors and manufacturers for all aspects of system maintenance and upkeep
- Adhere to all policies
- Perform any additional duties as defined by IT leadership
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years’ experience or 5 plus years’ experience in related field
- 3 plus years of experience with IBM Power Systems servers, IBM AIX Operating System
- IBM Power Systems Servers including experience with the configuration, and installation of server, storage, network, and fiber connectivity
- IBM AIX Operating System experience including configuration, upgrades, server administration and operations
- IBM PowerHA High Availability and Logical replication
- AIX Storage (MPIO, VG, LVM, JFS)
- AIX security (IPSec, EFS, roles, sudo, trusted execution)
- AIX performance monitoring and reporting
- Redhat/Ubuntu Linux
- SSL (knowledge of certificates and applications)
- Server virtualization (LPAR, VIO etc.)
- SAN experience with knowledge of fiber channel zoning
- Scripting (ksh, perl etc.)
- Networking (DNS, TCP/IP etc.)
- LDAP
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Values teamwork and work well with others
- Problem solving and paying attention to detail
- Basic project management skills
- IBM AIX v7 Administrator Specialty Certification
- IBM PowerHA SystemMirror V7.2.5 AIX Administrator Specialty Certification
- Red Hat Certified Engineer Certification
