Job Posting for PT Collection Management Librarian at Shook, Hardy and Bacon
Supervises the maintenance and administration of the library collection to ensure a complete and effective legal information center for the cost-effective and efficient support of client services by performing the following duties.
Assigns work and special projects to the Library Assistants and Assistant Librarian as appropriate.
Coordinates and manages projects aimed at maintenance and organization of the library.
Establishes guidelines for collection development that reflect the library's goals and objectives.
Participates in long-range planning and implementation of goals and objectives for the technical services department.
Provides leadership in coordinating the selection, activation and maintenance of library materials in both print and electronic formats.
Develops policies and procedures to evaluate, acquire, discard, process, organize, maintain and circulate or loan library materials.
Provides assistance to supervisor with collection management including processing and paying for new materials, budgeting and vendor relations.
Coordinates and reviews library budget expenditures in consultation with supervisor.
Evaluates library materials in all formats, integrates them to meet the needs of library patrons and discards or archives them as appropriate.
Maintains library facilities including space design and utilization, furnishings, equipment and security.
Maintains automated serial and acquisition databases.
Provides training and mentoring of the collection management staff; monitors work load and work flow to ensure quality control of the work product.
Assembles and coordinates delivery of research materials to maximize comprehension and use of material by the end user.
Uses communications software to access commercial research databases to conduct complex searches and generate reports.
Acts as back-up for computerized cite checking service.
Stays abreast of current trends in research databases, products and services by professional reading and attendance at conferences and seminars.
Conducts library orientation tours as requested.
Participates in presentations to attorneys in order to inform, educate and promote library services.
Routinely keeps track of time in specified intervals and submits time records as requested.
Requirements: Master's degree in library science (M.L.S.) or its equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to work with software currently used in legal research and library science.
