What are the responsibilities and job description for the MT/MLT - Core Lab position at Shore Medical Center?
Position Summary
The MT/MLT(ASCP) - performs all laboratory procedures as required according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Core Responsibilities
• Utilizes quality control for decision making on a routine basis to establish standards.
• Communicates critical values in accordance with departmental policy.
• Recognizes/Reviews abnormal and inconsistent results and takes appropriate action in accordance with departmental policy.
• Accurately performs STAT and routine orders within established time limits.
• Consistently demonstrates teamwork.
• Recognizes problems and takes appropriate action.
• Prioritizes workload based on volume/urgency.
• Adequately collects and/or processes specimens.
• Communicates current status of workstation to appropriate personnel including on-coming shifts.
• Safely performs all routine maintenance procedures.
• Performs and evaluates instrument functions.
Minimum Requirements
• MT (ASCP), or MLT (ASCP) or eligible to sit for exam
• Associates or Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution
• Knowledge of electronic medical records and medical terminology
• Intermediate computer skills, excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skill
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods with the ability to lift, push and pull
