What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Office Assistant position at Shoreline Fruit?

We are looking for a detail oriented person that engages in learning new things, is a self-starter and works well in a team environment, and has fun while working hard to fill the Logistics Office Assistant position we have open.
Day Shift: 7:00am - 4:00pm Monday - Friday

- Starting pay: $15-$17 per hour

Responsibilities: The Logistics Office Assistant will be supporting in the activities related to dispatching and tracking of incoming and outgoing materials, products, and transportation carriers.
- Create and print daily BOL's to support customer shipments.
- Assist transportation coordinator with scanning shipped BOL's into sales folders.
- Calculate weights, dimensions, and densities of shipping loads.
- Assist truck drivers with necessary paperwork required for shipment of product ensuring that all documents are signed and complete with required information.
- Calling carriers for load pickups.
- Scan and email/file all necessary shipping and receiving documents to the appropriate departments.
- Help load/unload shipments as needed.
- Assist with shipment discrepancies, variance reconciliation, and investigations as needed.
- Assist with the forklift certification program.
- Cross train to support warehouse and logistics coordinators when needed.
- Assist in special projects for logistic coordination.
- Ensure all plant security policies are adhered to in regards to shipping/receiving and warehousing operations.
- Follow all Company policies, procedures and rules related to GMP's, Security, and Quality.
Physical Requirements:
- Long periods of sitting may be necessary.
- Pushing and pulling pallets and lifting products may be required.
- Must have adequate flexibility of movement and stamina for manual handling of products.
- Be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Competencies and Skills Required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
- Familiarity working with transportation and warehouse management systems (ParityFactory) a plus.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
