SUMMARY
SHRM’s paid internship program enables students to participate in valuable real-world work experience through various tailored assignments within their areas of interest and fields of study. Students will be tasked with different team-specific projects, and tasks, and participate in professional development projects and events to prepare them for their future careers. This role is responsible for providing research support to SHRM research teams in the areas of survey research, data analysis, research communication, and data visualization. The intern will be providing support to ongoing research projects. Specific responsibilities may include survey design, survey programming, data analysis, and literature review.
This is a paid internship starting at $20.00/Hour.
This is a 10 week, summer internship from May 27, 2024 - August 1, 2024.
Responsibilities:
Program and field surveys, analyze and synthesize data, and summarize research findings
Oversee sample list procurement activities, ensuring the sample is accurately pulled and meets research study criteria
Collaborate with internal research and analytic resources
Manage project schedules by following specific and well-defined processes and procedures
Analyze and synthesize global market and competitive intelligence information for internal dissemination
Prepare literature searches from academic and business press/consulting sources
Collaborate in research projects and questionnaire design.
Carry out division-specific tasks/activities as assigned by the supervisor throughout the internship
Manage deliverables and provide regular updates
Education & Experience Requirements
Currently pursuing a master’s or Ph.D. in Industrial Psychology, Organizational Psychology, Organizational Sciences, Management, HR, or other related fields
0-3 years of relevant work experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficiency with IBM SPSS or R including cross tabs, frequencies, correlations, and regressions
Ability to distill large amounts of statistical and quantitative data into actionable recommendations
Strong written and oral communication skills, including excellent writing, grammar, and editing skills.
Ability to consolidate data findings into concise, actionable, and easy-to-understand formats.
Comfortable working in a high-paced, demanding environment.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment

Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribe, view a computer terminal; extensive reading.
Work environment
SHRM does operate under a hybrid work schedule and will require you to be in SHRM’s headquarters in Alexandria, VA on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. On Mondays and Fridays will be working remotely.
Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.
