Description
Work with Co-head of School to provide leadership and daily operation in teaching and curriculum in the Pre-Primary school -- establishing policies to run the Pre-Primary school, for appointing the appropriate staff members to carry out the directives, and for explaining the policies to parents. Participate in the creating the budget. Participate in interviews for recruiting new teachers and assistant teachers. Lead in designing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Year Program (PYP) with a Mandarin immersion language program for the Pre-Primary School’s Program of Inquiry (POI). Lead an endeavor to infuse Reggio Emilia approach into school’s POI. Supervise teachers and teaching assistants in classrooms of 60 Mandarin-learning students and guide them with the curriculum development. Supervise and arrange scheduling for substitute teachers. Plan, organize, and conduct teacher professional development through training, conferences, or workshops. Support the faculty and staff with student discipline and follow through with correspondence and/or related record-keeping. Ensure legal compliance to State’s Community Child Care Licensing regulations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related fields and two years of experience in an International Baccalaureate’s (IB) Primary Year Programme (PYP) with Early Childhood focus; Implementation of Reggio Emilia approach into inquiry-based learning curriculums in IB framework; Mandarin curriculum development, and course presentation and teaching method. Must comply with the qualifications of a Childcare Center Director required under Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1 of California Child Care Center regulations.
