What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dri-Lube / Painter Operator - 2nd shift position at SHUR-LOK?
We are an Aerospace Manufacturer in Irvine, near John Wayne Airport. We are looking for a Dri-Lube Operator / Paint Operator on 2nd shift. Must be available to work some weekends.
Under close supervision, the Paint Operator will be in charge of cleaning parts and applying solid film lubricant to manufactured parts, according to the required internal procedures and/or to customer requirements and specifications.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Clean parts with de-ionized water and perform a “water break test.”
- Verifies the shelf life of the solid films lubricant to be used. Test the solid film lubricant for viscosity and consistency when required.
- Prepares the solid film lubricating from application, which includes mixing and/or diluting if necessary.
- Properly arranges the parts to allow the correct application of the solid film lubricant
- Applies the solid film lubricant by spray or brush method. Operates spray nozzle to apply coating on parts in a paint booth.
- Ensures that exhaust mechanism of the paint booth is switched on and functioning before spraying parts.
- Applies coating evenly and in accordance with written work instructions.
- Dries the parts on racks in an oven. Verifies the calibration of the drying oven and other equipment as applicable. Monitors the baking process.
- Test the parts for adhesion and/or thickness when required. · Generates an NMR for parts and or the process parameters that fail any of the required testing procedures.
- Maintains the paint room in a clean and orderly condition.
- Ensures that paint and other chemicals are stored in fire-resistant cabinets, according to instructions on material safety data sheet for the chemical.
- Isolates expired chemicals from others and ensures that they are picked up for disposal or recycling.
- Works effectively as a team member and performs tasks in a timely manner to meet production schedules.
Required Skills:
- Requires at least two years previous industrial painting experience.
- Basic knowledge of chemistry and ability to read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, and other written instructions or procedures.
- Use measuring devices, test and inspection instruments.
- Ability to utilize hand held tools such as a hand held screw and drill gun.
- Ability to perform quality work checks to insure the product meets quality standards.
- Must be able to perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
- Able to identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.
- Capable of regularly perform repetitive tasks.
- Specific vision abilities required, include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Attention to detail and an attitude of 100% compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.
- High energy level and ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
