Job Summary: Provide timely and accurate rate calculations for proposals, new groups, amendments, and renewals to contribute to efficient department service. Principal Responsibilities: Contribute to the company’s success through excellent customer service and meeting or exceeding performance objectives for the following major job functions: Analyze and interpret routine group insurance calculation requests and enter coverage plan designs and hard-copy census data on system applications to produce timely and accurate sales proposal, new group, amendment and renewal rates. Analyze, interpret and reformat data submitted electronically; calculate sales proposals on system installed calculation application (OPUS). Determine and apply occupational and industry codes for calculations using underwriting guidelines to provide sales proposals within actuarial standards. Serve as a resource to internal and external customers. Perform special projects as requested. Provide back-up to other underwriting support areas by learning specific functions. Essential Function Requirements Demonstrated skills: Express ideas clearly in written and oral communication; perform high volume detailed data entry with accuracy; organize workload to meet changing priorities and deadlines; accurate typing at 40-50 wpm; accurate 10-key by touch at 90-100 spm. Ability to: Analyze, interpret and input alpha and numeric data from paper and electronic source documents using various computer applications; make decisions based on appropriate underwriting and actuarial guidelines in the absence of specific instructions; adjust work schedule to accommodate peak work periods; prioritize work to meet sales deadlines. Working knowledge of: Spreadsheet applications (Excel); MS Word; basic math principles; group insurance products. Advanced knowledge of: 10-Key calculator by touch. Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience: One year related work experience, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
