About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:
The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today’s and tomorrow’s power grid!
We are looking for an AIS (Air Insulated Switchgear) Engineering Manager. This position will be based in Wendell, NC.
Overview:
Siemens EA is an exciting environment, and a dynamic development organization and fast-growing marketplace is seeking an exciting addition to our engineering leadership team. We have a new engineering development role serving as part of a cross function team focused on providing a best-in-class experience for our growing Data Center, Semiconductors and large program customers. This role will drive strategic initiatives and management, working directly with engineering function across EA business, and focused on product and process standardization enhancements. That will include 8 direct reports responsible for engineering all technical aspects of customer orders.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the engineering organization as a strategic program leader for the data center, semiconductors, and large program customers. Working directly with the business development, offers teams, and customers in order to support growth.
- Take ownership of the overall engineering experience for all the program orders. This will include leadership and technical support during the quotation, design approval, detailed engineering and post-project lessons learned phases. This may also require engaging directly with designers to develop concepts and, at times, independently producing technical content.
- Drive product standardization enhancements focus by collaborating with product management and R&D teams to establishing product roadmaps and design.
- Manage the day to day needs of the large program engineering team. This will include training and coaching of new team members, schedule management, escalation resolution and coordination with factory stakeholders.
- Drive long term process improvements and increase team efficiency through lessons learned analysis, creative preventive action plans and driving those plans through implementation.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- 10 years of experience in a technical engineering role, at least 5 years of which supporting large projects and 2 years as a team lead.
- Strong communications skills and demonstrated presentation skills to diverse audiences.
- Extensive Experience with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards
- Extensive Experience with metal-clad switchgear and power distribution products.
- Demonstrated knowledge of power systems protection, controls, and automation applications.
- Ability to analyze customer’s technical specifications regarding the application of power distribution equipment and apply appropriate product solutions to meet the customers’ expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Substation and generating plant design & operation
- Experience with electrical design for medium voltage switchgear, preference given to experience with Siemens switchgear.

- The pay range for this position is $97,500 - $167,200 and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
