About this role:
Sierra7 is seeking an experienced Proposal Writer who has the technical proposal writing skills and expertise to develop compliant and compelling proposal content for winning federal proposals. Must be a team-oriented person who can also work independently, and who has experience collaborating with team members such as proposal and growth members: Solution Architects (SAs), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Executive leadership team, and other stakeholders to translate the concepts of our solution, approach, method(s) into an effective storyline with messaging that clearly and concisely presents our company’s proposal response. This person must also have the ability to work within tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment and multi-task to contribute to multiple proposals at one time.
The Proposal Writer will conduct editorial/copy-editing of all proposal responses for submission ensuring written content is:
a.) technically sound, reads well, and is free of grammatical, spelling, and formatting errors
b.) compelling with effective messaging of the proposal win strategy and proposed solution and services
c.) aligned and compliant to the RFP/solicitation, scope of work/technical requirements, and overall proposed solution tailored to the customer
The ideal team member will understand the nuances of Federal RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, etc. as well as Shipley’s proposal process to prioritize and complete assignments by deadlines in a timely manner. Federal IT experience and IT technical knowledge, familiarity, and understanding of key technologies are required (e.g., Project Management, Cloud, Change Management, Cybersecurity, Software, Help Desk, etc.).
Position Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
• Conducts full technical proposal copy edits to include proofreading/grammar, refining, wordsmithing, one-voicing, as well as document clean-up, prepping, and formatting of proposal responses (e.g., Technical, Business, and Past Performance Volumes and other deliverables such as Key Personnel Resumes/Bios, Case Study examples, etc.)
• Collaborates with SMEs, conducts research, shreds RFP requirements to develop, edit, and/or refine proposal content as assigned
• Interviews project team members and develop content for technical, management, and past performance volumes.
• Assists to develop and translate proposal concepts by identifying and clarifying win themes, strengths, hot buttons, challenges, etc. by reviewing and analyzing solicitation documents and the PWS/SOW and attending strategy and solutioning meetings.
• Meets proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; entering and monitoring tracking data; coordinating requirements with contributors; contributing proposal status information to review meetings; escalating obstacles and impediments to proposal manager/team accordingly.
• Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; and maintaining proposal support databases.
• Continuously supports process efficiencies and quality efforts to improve proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate to implement improvements.
• Supports content creation, writing, and editing support for other types of written responses such as Request for Information (RFIs)/Market Research, Case Studies, White Papers, as well as other Growth and Proposal initiatives and projects as assigned.
