CV Operating Room RN (scrub and circulate):
- Operating Room (OR) nurses are referred to as Perioperative Nurses to more accurately reflect their specialized duties. Perioperative nursing includes those activities performed by the professional registered nurse in the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases of surgery.
Responsibilities:
- The circulating nurse acts as the patient advocate while the patient is under the influence of anesthesia.
- The Nurse Circulator ensures safety of patient within the period of operation.
- The circulating nurse works by collaborating with other members of the team including the anesthesiologist, surgeon, surgical technologist, surgical assistant, and other personnel.
- Render expert pre-, intra- and post-operative nursing service.
- The RN Circulator plans and performs all nursing care for patients who will undergo surgery and other invasive procedures.
- Provide nursing care from assessment to outcome evaluation.
- Act as the single advocate for patient safety during operative procedures.
- Work directly with the surgeon within the sterile field
- Pass instruments, sponges, and other items needed during the surgical procedure.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field, BSN preferred.
- 2 years in a Cardiovascular Perioperative setting (Operating Room) in a hospital.
- Heart and Vascular experience preferred
- Current BLS (ACLS preferred but not required)
- Valid state license (Where applicable)
