Primary Function:

We are seeking an expert and highly skilled Electrical Engineer such as yourself to be a part of a dynamic and innovative R&D department in the Bay Area. You would be a part of a team of Mechanical, Automation, Robotic, Firmware, and other Electrical Engineers developing automation technology in the apparel manufacturing space.  You will come with a passion for Engineering and a dedication to getting the job done.  Your scope of work will be anything electronic which includes developing new design concepts with state-of-the-art IoT technology, developing high end embedded controllers with multiple sensors and visions systems, and working with some of the best NPI and Manufacturing teams in automation that will revolutionize the apparel manufacturing and customization process.  Your energy will help drive innovation and provide success in our demos and products.

 

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

  • Working in Research and Development to create technology in the area of Automation, Robotics, and Mechatronics
  • Working with the R&D team to come up with innovate designs that meet and exceed technical and product requirements
  • Leading and mentoring the EE team as well as being a thought leader for the RnD organization
  • Working with Marketing to develop and refine Customer needs
  • Working with application associates to refine features and requirements
  • Using CAD to design PCBs and PCBAs
  • Being a part of the team building technology demonstrators and prototypes and help debug and test those assemblies
  • Developing verification and validation protocols for the RnD team with focus on electronic sub-systems
  • Performing verification of your designs to provide a successful handoff to other associates in the company
  • Implementing new designs from concept to manufacturing
  • Supporting existing products in the field and in manufacturing
  • Owning and driving Design Reviews
  • Working in a multi-disciplined environment (EEs, MEs, SW, FW, QA, and Compliance)
  • Working with Operation teams located throughout the world (NPI, Manufacturing, and Product Support)
  • Manage suppliers to build and deliver prototype and engineering units

 

Education and Experience: (Required knowledge, skills, & abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering required
  • 8 years relevant experience with typically 12 – 20 years of practical experience
  • Understanding of Product Development Life Cycles and Manufacturing principles (DFx)
  • Highly skilled and knowledgeable of robotics including motor, encoder, motion profiling, and PID control/tuning experience
  • Experience developing electronic products using SoCs, microcontrollers, microprocessors (ARM), DDR, PMICs and sensors
  • Expertise in Electrical design:  analog, digital, control systems, high-speed circuit board design, and filters
  • Experience using Altium or similar CAD packages
  • Working knowledge of noise reduction techniques and experience in Simulation
  • Fluent in memory integration design:  Volatile, non-volatile, dual port, and FLASH
  • Experience in FW and SW coding to support and control electro-mechanical systems
  • Understanding of power supplies and power distribution techniques
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Manufacturing testing systems: in-circuit and functional testing
  • Ability to use test equipment: programmable power supplies, O-scopes, function generators
  • Initiative and drive to accomplish goals with minimal guidance
  • Demonstrated history of driving projects to completion in schedule driven environments
  • Demonstrated history of creativity, innovation, and outside-the-box thinking
  • Understanding how to relate design elements to system level specifications and performance
  • Ability to be persuasive and sell ideas to others
  • Good documentation and communication skills

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Finding and evaluating new vendors, managing relationships, and generating specifications for outsourced design
  • Evaluate key business challenges and direct the development of new or innovative solutions
  • Lead teams from a technical management perspective
  • Ability to drive decisions at the Director and VP levels of management
