SCOPE OF ROLE

Reporting to the Manager, Professional Development, the Supervisor, Academic Placements will play an active role in facilitating the implementation, coordination and documentation of curriculum of Signature Health’s professional education and academic placement programs. You will collaborate with internal and external resources to implement, maintain and grow Signature Health’s academic placement programs while providing strong oversight and clinical direction to internal and external academic placement students as well as internal providers seeking professional independent licensure across the organization. The Supervisor, Academic Placements will be a strong model for mentoring Behavioral Health treatment providers throughout their professional and career development at Signature Health.


HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED ____________________________________________________________________

  • Effectively supervise and oversee the objectives of a team of academic placement students enrolled in an accredited academic program with licensure requirements.
  • Create academic solutions that satisfy the needs of a diverse set of academic placement students.
  • Be actively engaged when overseeing individual performance which should include ongoing mentoring, supervision, and meeting objectives through the internal and/or external academic placement experience.
  • Actively participate in meetings and process improvement initiatives to continuously improve academic placement programs at Signature Health, including relationships with Academic Institutions.
  • Assist the Manager, Professional Development with program development.
  • Assist in the creation of processes for the attraction of academic placement students into Signature Health including the maintenance of key relationships with educational programs and referral sources.
  • Be someone the company can rely on to be responsible for building support, excitement and collaboration relating to academic placements, internally and externally.
  • Create and build a comfortable and supportive environment while supervising dependently licensed employees and when collaborating with Signature Health supervisors and/or leaders.
  • Facilitate clinical development opportunities and programs as assigned.
  • Maintain confidential academic placement and employee professional development files and monitor records of attendance for required educational and development activities.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with accrediting bodies, academic institutions and professional license & certifying board standards.
  • Monitor and document the academic placement evaluation process.
  • Communicate regularly with academic placement students including but not limited to internal and external interns, residents, clinical placement trainees and supervisor staff regarding the daily activities and progress of the intern, resident or clinical placement trainee.
  • Analyze and provide input to Signature Health leaders on academic placement program and individual development & performance.
  • Participate in and provide oversight in the development and management of Signature Health’s programs providing professional licensure advancement.
  • Review and approve clinical documentation as required, including use of Supervisory license for clinical documentation completed under a trainee license and/or dependent license.
  • Comply with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all aspects of HIPAA, promoting patient confidentiality and right to privacy.
  • May be required to perform telehealth services as determined by Signature Health.
  • Adherence and completion of compliance training provided by Signature Health.
  • Participate in all assigned staff meetings and staff development programs.
  • Demonstrate appropriate attendance and punctuality in adherence with Signature Health policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE ______________________________________________________________

  • Master’s Degree required.
  • Valid unencumbered LPCC-S License in the state of Ohio required.
  • 5-7 years of clinical experience required, with minimum of 1-year supervisory experience.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • High proficiency with computer software including but not limited to health information management system, billing software, insurance websites, and Microsoft Office.

WORKING CONDITIONS ___________________________________________________________________

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical work environment.
  • While hours of operation are generally standard, flexibility to work evenings and extended hours may be required.
  • Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
  • Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
  • Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
  • Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
  • Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds, unassisted.
  • Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.
  • Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
