What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service position at Sigray Inc.?
Sigray has an immediate opening for a field service engineer or technician to join our team. We develop next generation laboratory X-ray systems that are sold worldwide. This is an excellent opportunity to be able to travel the world and work alongside some of the leading scientists.
The ideal candidate will:
- Train customers on using complex scientific equipment
- Be able to think creatively and on their feet to diagnose and troubleshoot instrumentation
- Work collaboratively to lead the transportation and installation of heavy systems
- Have excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Possess excellent technical skills (e.g., mechanical, electrical, or physics)
- Be self-motivated and able to work under little supervision in the field
- Be open and capable of international travel up to 75% of the time
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with complex instrumentation, X-ray or electron instrumentation is a plus
- Bonus (but not necessary) is working understanding of Linux
Experience:
- Background in Physics, Chemistry, or Electrical Engineering is a plus
- Mechanical Engineering degrees and/or experience also a bonus
New graduates are possible - we are willing to train for the right candidate.
Sigray is a rapidly growing startup based in Concord CA that manufactures X-ray sources, optics, and systems. The X-ray systems include X-ray spectroscopy, microfluorescence, and nano- and micro- computed tomography, as well as several unreleased instruments under active development. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of instrumentation design and programming of motion control systems.
The company was started by Dr. Wenbing Yun, who previously founded Xradia, a world leading x-ray microscopy company that was later successfully acquired by Carl Zeiss as its x-ray microscopy unit. Sigray is well-funded by government grants and has customers from around the world.
