JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the President and as a member of the senior leadership team, the Controller directs and administers the financial activities of the organization, as well as manages the Human Resources function of Altius Building Company, to include benefits administration, payroll, compliance, and special projects as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain existing policies, procedures, and practices relating to the management and administration of accounting-related functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit policies, billing, and project accounting.
  • Prepare financial statements, coordinate information with tax accountants for corporate tax returns, work with external auditors for annual audit, and compile other reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Lead the preparation of the annual budgets and monitor budgets throughout the year.
  • Ensure accuracy of data, information, and reports and evaluate financial results and operating variances.
  • Compile reports as required by management and analyze key metrics and trends pertaining to the company's overall financial performance and forecasting.
  • Oversee and administer payroll processing and administer employee benefits plans, including managing the insurance carrier relationship and the annual renewal process, 
  • Recommend modifications to current corporate programs and policies to increase efficiency. Review, test, and improve existing accounting practices, procedures, and internal controls for compliance with GAAP.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow.
  • Participate in a wide variety of other projects and tasks as assigned or requested.

 

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is required; CPA designation is strongly preferred.
  • At least five years of progressive accounting experience including financial statement preparation, experience working with multi-entity organizations, and robust financial and accounting acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication.
  • Highest level of integrity and business ethics with a strong sense of confidentiality.
  • Distinct leadership, organizational, and management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with implementation orientation and self-starter attitude.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
  • Ability to work well independently and an inclination to actively participate in a team environment.
  • Ability to problem-solve and respond quickly to client and staff requests and needs along with an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • High-level of knowledge working with Microsoft Office products and accounting software.
