What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planner, Production position at Silfab?

Summary of Functions:
The Production Planner will oversee supply chain performance to improve its overall execution and resolve chronic issues to ensure a best-in-class supply chain.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage supplier performance to improve overall supply chain execution and resolve lead time, fill rate, data quality, cost accuracy, and other chronic issues.
  • Develop and publish product execution plans for all internal departments, including purchase plans, distribution plans, and transportation requirements.
  • Review NPI activity to determine the impact on product lines, manage item-level forecasts and keep suppliers well informed of requirements.
  • Develop optimum inventory positions to support sales forecasts and customer orders.
  • Execute contingency plans with operations and alternate suppliers.
  • Resolve ongoing concerns relating to supply, operations, non-adherence to case specifications, new initiatives, and planned shutdowns for suppliers.
  • Be the supplier liaison for specifications, manufacturing location, and inbound freight initiatives.
  • Conduct supplier feasibility studies as required.
  • Identify, approve, and flag all non-budgeted expenditures for program expenditure and liabilities reconciliation.
  • Provide detailed analysis of the product and program performance.
  • Develop forecasts for supplier material, production planning, and budgeted operating costs.
  • Manage disposal, return, or donation of non-salable inventories.
  • Responsible for aged, slow-moving, or obsolete inventory disposition and financial reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external vital partners to obtain consistent forecast measures for successfully executing promotions and new item launches.
  • Coordinate with supply chain partners to strategize inventory fulfillment in support of business demands.
  • Coordinate solutions for transportation issues.
  • Gather, review, and disseminate product information and changes to internal departments to ensure accurate product information.
  • Manage item transitions and plans for proper levels of inventory without disruption.
  • Accurately maintain product data, pricing, and vendor information in the replenishment system.
  • Analyze and interpret multiple data sources and reports to determine the best course of action or identify new opportunities to meet customer-specific requirements.
  • Escalate issues of concern as they arise.
  • Work on projects as assigned to support existing customers, new business development, or process improvement.
  • Coordinate the flow of inbound freight.

Education and Experience:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Planning, or Business Administration; or
  • Two (2) years of experience in logistics and/or supply chain
Preferred:
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of program/project management software (Basecamp, MS Project, etc.).
