The Public Relations Manager is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of Silvergate’s public relations strategy. As a member of the Marketing Communications team, you’ll manage our media efforts to generate positive coverage for Silvergate’s fintech products and services while developing and maintaining a clear and consistent voice for the organization. The ideal candidate has established media relationships and is an expert in finding and pitching timely stories, securing coverage with top-tier media outlets, and media monitoring.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Develop and implement a focused PR strategy that captures the entirety of Silvergate including our products, services, and story
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key reporters in fintech, digital currency, banking trade, and business press
  • Work with marketing and the leadership team to position Silvergate as a thought leader among top-tier media outlets
  • Secure quality, timely media placements that maximize exposure by developing and pitching thoughtful stories and company announcements to media
  • Prepare talking points for speaking opportunities, interviews, and announcements in coordination with marketing
  • Write clear, persuasive, original copy for corporate and executive social media accounts
  • Seek out and manage award submission opportunities to amplify Silvergate’s business and culture
  • Reactively respond to media inquiries and support crisis communications as needed
  • Measure and report impact of PR campaigns
  • Maintain current knowledge of all federal and state laws and regulations, along with the Bank’s policies and procedures
  • Not to harm consumers with any act that could be misleading, unfair, deceptive, or abusive in act or practice

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or another relevant discipline
  • 6 years’ of experience in public relations preferably at a financial services company (fintech is a plus) or agency experience
  • Strong media network with established connections at major publications
  • Knowledge of the digital currency industry with the ability to write about the industry with confidence
  • Robust track record of success in managing public relations campaigns with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently but welcomes collaboration where needed
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills

BANK SECRECY ACT 
Responsible for adhering to the reporting and recordkeeping requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering rules and regulations, observing economic sanctions by prohibiting transactions as specified by the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), following the bank’s customer identification program (CIP) rules, observing all Bank policies and procedures relating to BSA, OFAC, CIP, and related acts, and participation in ongoing related training.
