What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist II position at Simple Laboratories?
Responsible for performing specimen collection of blood and urine from patients at assigned IOP, PSC, LTC and Rehab locations. Requires between locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include, but not limited to, the following duties:
1. Customer Service – being both patient- and client-facing. This position role is in an independent clinic setting, PSC, LTC, and you are a representative of the company to both patients and the client.
2. Independent / remote work requiring reliable transportation to LTC facilities. Must be comfortable to ask questions via the main laboratory by calling and interacting with sales and customer service based in headquarters.
3. This position may require Observed Urine and Blood collection.
4. Arrange daily activities based on urgency of requests for fluid samples.
5. Identify patients and their personal information using their ID, documents, or other means.
6. Determine the right venipuncture method based on patient age. Must be comfortable with all age groups especially elderly patients.
7. Reassure patients and help them relax.
8. Find veins that are suitable for venipuncture.
9. Draw blood using sterilized needles, vials, and other equipment.
10. Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples.
11. Label samples correctly, process, package for delivery to the lab.
12. Specimens will be transported to the main lab or designated hub by the phlebotomist which requires a driver’s license and reliable transportation.
13. Answer patient questions and provide useful information.
14. Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests.
15. Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each, but not limited to, essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required. - 3 years of phlebotomy
- Certified Phlebotomy Certificate Preferred
- High School or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record for the last 5 years
- Proof of current auto liability insurance
Language skills: Can communicate with all levels in the company and at the client offices.
Dress Code: Must follow company’s dress code policy.
Hours: This job may require continuous or discontinuous hours. The number hours worked in a day depends on job necessity that day.
