SQL Database Developer

The role of SQL Database Developer within Simpluris encompasses engagement in daily production data analysis, manipulation, & movement as well as our larger capital project initiatives including data lake / warehouse, analytics, and reporting projects. They help support database-related activities alongside our senior data and development teams participating at both tactical and strategic levels. Job activities may include tasks such as analysis of customer provided datasets including cleansing and manipulation of data to be used by downstream applications and data repositories, database querying (including in-depth programmatic development), deep dive reporting and analysis of customer and internal datasets, and general ETL type processing of data. This position requires a minimum 3 years' experience working with data using Microsoft SQL, Excel, Python and other similar technologies and tools as well as possessing an analytic mindset with a thirst for understanding problems at a deeper level.

Requirements

What you will be doing:

• Perform data analysis using SQL and other technologies (including cloud-based tools such as Azure SQL, AWS Dynamo)

• Analyze, design, and build solutions using SQL Server, T-SQL, SSRS, SSIS and other tools as necessary (i.e. Excel, Python, NoSQL/Document DB)

• Perform data profiling of source data to identify data quality issues and anomalies, identification of patterns / trends, gathering of natural keys, and metadata information

• Cleanse, analyze, and manipulate data for production and development systems and projects

• Formulate data validation rules on source data to confirm the data has correct and/or expected values

• Assist with creation and development of ETL processes for extracted data loading to destination databases

• Build reports to help support internal & external customers

• Assist with database management

• Participate in design and implementation of technology best practices, guidelines, and processes

What we need from you:

• Strong demonstrated Microsoft SQL development experience (3-5 years) including knowledge & use of T-SQL (query development, scripting, stored procedures, functions, table design, indexing, debugging, etc.)

• Working knowledge of ETL techniques, tools, and processes

• Familiarity with cloud-based database & data technologies

• Experience with DevOps and Git code repository

• Experience with Agile methodologies, prioritizing backlog, etc.

• Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills

• Strong communication skills and documentation patterns

• Nice to have experience...

• Data Warehouse / Lake concept understanding (OLAP Cubes, SSIS, ETL, etc.)

• Understanding of Master Data Management (MDM)
