YOU
As a Lay-Out Tech, you will process special work orders, customer drawings and sketches. Will utilize Auto-CAD to create working drawings for production associates. Will insure BOM's are maximizing resources and components efficiently. Oversees and inspects the production processes to ensure that the Simpson quality standard is being maintained. Communicates clearly and in an effective manner with customer service representatives and team members.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)
Maintain knowledge of company special products and options. Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches and diagrams, including the use of measuring tapes, rulers and calipers. Draw basic drafting designs in 2D & 3D utilizing Auto-CAD. Extensive use of basic math with some trigonometry. (50%)
Plan work and use of materials to maximize efficiency. Create and implement solutions to problems regarding production, materials and/or quality. Quality control check production to ensure quality standards are met. (25%)
Communicate effectively with customer service department employees, production workers and customers. Work with team members to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the department. (25%)
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- High School diploma or GED Required.
- Vocational certificate/degree in Auto-CAD Preferred.
- 3-5 years related experience and/or training, including Auto-CAD use Required.
- Manufacturing Process Knowledge: Demonstrates a basic knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods. Able to read and understand a part print and translate it to a physical finished good.
- Safety: Able to consistently prioritize safety by demonstrating a safe work practices by promoting a safe work environment.
- Communication Skills: Speaks in the most effective way to relay information. Listens and asks questions to ensure understanding.
- Self-Management Skills: Uses time efficiently to complete tasks.
- Quality Standards Knowledge: Demonstrates an understanding of quality standards and quality control processes.
- Equipment and Tools: Able to read a tape measure to within 1/32" as well as read a micrometer, caliper and use combination squares, protractors to measure /- 1 degree and pin gauges to check part quality.
- Computer Skills: Able to operate a computer, ERP systems and basic applications such as Word, Outlook and SAP
- Customer Service Skills: Applies customer service principles and processes on the job and with others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.
TRAVEL
This position does not require travel.
WORK STATUS & LOCATION
This full-time, non-exempt, Union position is located in Stockton, CA.
RELOCATION
Relocation is not available for this position.
PAY
$25.00 / hour
