What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Manager position at SIMULATE?
This position will support the daily activities of a research and product development lab focused on upgrading the world to a positive food system. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual, who is solution-oriented, enjoys teamwork, and fosters a strong culture of collaboration in the laboratory. The Lab Manager will:
- Help in the purchase, installation, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Write and keep records of standard operating procedures for equipment.
- Help develop an environmental health and safety plan for the laboratory and monitor laboratory safety practices on a day-to-day basis.
- Order laboratory supplies and ingredients as needed and ensure an appropriate inventory of general supplies.
- Ensures lab cleanliness on a daily basis.
- Facilitate the lab on-boarding and training of new hires.
- Frequently meet with and update the Research Lead on laboratory-related challenges.
- Perform other laboratory-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Experience working in a laboratory environment, in the food industry or a related field.
- Experience in setting up and maintaining laboratory equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Being proactive, seeing potential lab-related challenges before they arise.
- Good time management, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
- Good understanding of environmental health and safety needs of a research laboratory.
- Strong problem-solving, team building, and mentoring abilities.
- Prior experience as a lab manager in the food or healthcare industry is a plus.
