As the Sinai Residences EMR’s, you will have the responsibility of answering emergency calls and providing efficient and immediate care to ill and injured residents.
MUST HAVE:
- EMR Certification
- CPR/BLS Certification
Emergency Response:
Using a limited amount of equipment, the EMR will render emergency medical care based on assessment findings. Care may include:
- Opening and maintaining an airway
- Ventilating patients
- Administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Administering Oxygen
- Providing emergency medical care of simple and multiple system trauma such as:
- Controlling hemorrhage
- Bandaging wounds
- Manually stabilizing injured extremities
- Addressing general medical complaints, altered mental status, seizures, environmental emergencies, behavioral emergencies and psychological crises.
- Prior to rendering patient care, identify the mechanism of injury or nature of illness, the total number of patients and requests additional help, if necessary.
- Determine when additional support is needed and act accordingly. This includes:
- Identifying assessment findings that may require communicating with on-call provider for guidance.
- Providing ongoing assessment of resident and administer additional care while awaiting additional EMS resources.
- Verbally reporting observations and emergency medical care rendered to the responding EMS unit.
- Assessing the extent of injury and renders care while awaiting EMS providers.
- Contacting other EMR and or Security for additional help when necessary.
- Performing basic triage when required.
- Conduct post-call activities including:
- Complete an Event Report
- Restock and replace used supplies
- Clean and disinfect all equipment following appropriate disinfecting procedures
- Carefully checks all equipment to ensure it is in working order the availability for the next response
- Function within the scope of care as defined by state, regional and local regulatory agencies;
- Comply with regulations on the handling of the deceased, protection of property and evidence at the scene, while awaiting additional EMS resources.
- Perform security sweeps to ensure secure access points remain locked.
- Perform Fire Life Safety Rounds.
- Assist with emergency evacuation drills and training.
- Answer Concierge desk phones in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to function in uncommon situations while remaining calm;
- Able to apply basic knowledge of stress response and methods to ensure personal well‐being;
- Ability to apply principles of body substance isolation;
- Ability to apply basic medical‐legal principles as they pertain the to the EMR role;
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work well with many people and adapt to diverse situations
- Ability to maintain a professional work environment
